What is a Natural Latex Mattress?

What is a natural latex mattress? As one of the least known components used in mattresses, you may have not heard of a latex mattress before — and that’s okay. Our mattress experts at Texas Mattress Makers are here to answer all of your questions about natural latex mattresses.

At Texas Mattress Makers, the latex we use in our comfort layers is all-natural latex, not a synthetic blend. We do not use any chemicals during the mattress manufacturing process so that our customers can sleep on non-toxic, handmade mattresses for a restful sleeping experience.

What is natural latex made of?

Latex is a liquid that comes from the sap of rubber trees (Hevea brasiliensis, also known as the Pará rubber tree) that are typically found in South America. Once the sap is extracted from the tree, the liquid latex is whipped, poured into a mattress mold, and baked until it forms a soft mattress material that is frozen and then heated to set its final consistency.

This is what makes it all-natural! It comes directly from a plant rather than petroleum-based chemicals. No synthetic additives in sight.

All-natural latex is a luxury, clean component that provides customers with the ultimate plush feeling in a mattress.  Latex sleeps cooler as well and helps provide a more supportive sleep so that your mattress will last longer.

What are the benefits of an all-natural latex mattress?

Latex is a component that can solve a wide variety of sleep issues. Whether you need a latex comfort layer for that “just right” feel or a latex base layer for sturdy support, latex is a versatile component to look out for. For example, natural latex mattresses can be ideal for many side and back sleepers, or sleepers who don’t like the “cradling” feeling of traditional memory foam but need to relieve pressure in their joints, which can be provided by a softer material in the comfort layer of their mattress.

Some all-natural latex mattress benefits include:

• Eco-friendly
• A clean and inherently natural component
• Relieves pressure as you sleep
• Highly durable
• Optimal support for all sleeping positions
• Hypoallergenic
• Breathable structures for cooler sleep
• And more!

Due to its many benefits, all-natural latex can come with a heftier price point than more traditional mattress components. However, we believe that luxurious sleep shouldn’t break the bank. At Texas Mattress Makers, we cut out the middleman in our mattress distribution process so that you only have to pay for the components you choose. This means no excessive storage and labor fees. And, if you are concerned with mattress recycling in Houston, we provide free mattress removal with our white-glove mattress delivery service.
