Snooze News Episode 16
We’ve all been there…you’re lying in bed and you just can’t seem to get comfortable. No matter how you toss-and-turn something is always hurting. Lying on your side your shoulder hurts and on your back you just feel like you have no support.
As the hours tick by you blame your discomfort on everything but the actual root-cause…your mattress. That’s right – your mattress must match your sleep position. Of course, there are many other factors that determine your comfort level – but – sleep position can’t be emphasized enough.
What should you consider for your unique sleep position? We’re glad you asked!
- Side Sleeper – you have two main pressure points – the shoulder and the hip. For you to be comfortable you must feel no push back on your shoulder or your hip – and – your ribcage must be supported.
- Stomach Sleeper – there are four things you must be aware of: the back of your neck, the small of your back, your chest, and your hips. All four points must properly sink into the mattress to keep your body straight.
- Back Sleeper – the two main pressure points are the back of your shoulders and the back of your hips. Both areas contain very wide bones. Lastly, pay close attention to the small of your back – it must be supported, but not pushed up.
- Combination Sleeper – you’ll have to come see us if this is you! The combination of pressure points for your unique body composition requires us to see how you fit into a mattress. We’re here to help!
